By means of the transmission of shock waves onto the pile head, important information can be obtained which -once processed through specific software- allows the detection of the head depth and the presence of flaws along the shaft.
This system may be used to assess the level of pile ends in old structures by shooting the shock on brackets placed on the structure shaft near ground surface, processing the detected wave in a similar manner.
